Here are Parenting Beyond Punishment we LOVE L.R. Knost. Her books, blog posts and Facebook page are a boon of light for children, parents and families. We’ve written reviews of her books, and in 2013 I got a wild hair and decided to invite her to Atlanta to have a workshop for local parents. She didn’t even hesitate to say “yes” and I was beside myself with excitement and planning. My daughter asked, “why are you so excited, mom?” And I said, “well, you know how much you love mermaids? That’s how I feel about L.R. Knost.” Suddenly her eyes were the size of moons and she asked incredulously, “she’s a mermaid?!” “No” I giggled, “but I like her as much as you like mermaids.” “Ooooh.” she said, then trotted off to play. So, L.R. Knost came to Atlanta with her family in February of 2014 – it was quite a task to schedule her visit between all the snow storms! And we were thrilled to welcome over 40 people to the workshop despite the blustery weather. L.R. Knost shared her personal journey into parenthood, talked about gentle parenting, then continued to answered questions for over an hour. She was amazing and delightful in person. A gentle soul, through and through.
In April of 2014 she generously donated one of her eWorkshops for the large peaceful parenting collaborative event we had – over 2000 people attended the event and received her workshop for free. Amazing.
Then we all learned she has cancer. So we started offering her our gratitude, support, and love.
Today I’m writing about our Season of Giving campaign. And, as you’ve probably guessed, our fundraising efforts this year are for L.R. Knost.
Creating a peaceful world is absolutely the greatest gift we can give our children.
The gentle, peaceful, conscious parenting community has joined together to Give the Gift of Gentle Parenting and Give the Gift of Life, raising funds to donate gentle parenting books and resources in bulk to hospitals for new parent bags, to children’s hospitals, and to crisis family centers and also to help with author L.R.Knost’s medical expenses as she battles a rare neuroendocrine cancer.
