Fort Magic Review and Giveaway

We LOVE playing with Fort Magic!

After the cold, snowy winter here in Atlanta, we could hardly wait to plan a cookout and play with our new toy, which we did several times and with multiple friends! It turns out Fort Magic  has endless possibilities and we’ve had hours of fun playing with it. Not only was it easy to follow the directions and build the many designs from the instruction manual, it was also easy to build our own designs. We built tunnels, forts, a maze, a fairy house, an obstacle course, and a shade tent for a picnic. Seriously, this is going to be an oft-used toy all summer long. I can’t say enough good things about it. It’s easy to put together, take apart, and store. And it encourages all kinds of real-life skills and learning, from math and physics to critical thinking and problem solving…all while laughing,  playing, and building connection.

I couldn’t wait to start building, and my daughter quickly joined in. I don’t think she even bothered to watch what I was doing, she just fit the pieces together, and she loved that she could choose straight or curved pieces.

When we finished the framework we decided it needed something softer to sit on, so we put blankets underneath. Later that day we had a picnic inside with only a shade on top.

We left the fort up for a few days (and of course it rained…no harm done), and then decided to hang walls. My daughter and her friend decided it was a jail, and placed their dads under arrest. Imagine their surprise at the jail break! I wish I had a picture of their faces when they saw their dads through the window inside the house, LOL! Eventually it became a hiding place for several rounds of  hide-and-seek (the walls made for a quick escape).

These are the clips that hold the sheets and blankets to the structure. The kid does not come with fabric, but sheets work perfectly and the hodgepodge of colors is  fun. However, I’ve been told that fabric covers are coming soon!

My daughter loves mazes (we draw them for each other). So one day she had a friend over and I surprised them with a maze invitation. Honestly, it was AWESOME! Even our dog couldn’t get enough of it. They played “kitty” in the maze, pretended the dead end was a meditation studio, and had snail races. Is there anything better than the imaginations of children? Not even a maze can beat that!

Here they’re peaking around the corner at me after I put a “prize” at the end of the maze: “Mom, put a prize at the end of the maze like the rats get in their mazes.” Um, okay. How did you know about rats and mazes anyway? LOL

As you can see, we’ve had a LOT of fun with our Fort Magic kit in just a few short months, and I expect we’ll have an entire summer (rain or shine) of fun that includes forts, mazes, tents, sun shades, kitty towers, fairy homes, and any number of things from our imaginations.

  2. I have been a huge fan of Fort Magic from the very first time I heard about it. I am always blown away by seeing just how many different forts, play stands, mazes etc. you can make with just one kit. Fort Magic is such a great toy because it provides kids with the tools they need to exercise their natural creativity. It’s an open ended building toy and you don’t have to follow strict instructions to enjoy it. I really love how even younger children who aren’t yet able to build complex structures like houses and cars with it can still use Fort Magic to make abstract designs. It really is the perfect all-in-one toy that will last children of all ages for years and years. Thank you for the chance to win!
